A message for all friends of ERNIE OLDFIELD about his Final Album
Since the day my transparent comments on his lustful "HOLD ME TIGHT" were published, the grapevine instantly tied Ernie Oldfield‘s name to mine. Even my ex-husband pondered if I‘d be flying to Austria!
Okay, I know my heart spilled all over Ernie‘s ‘NEWS‘ page and my website, but to be ‘Evy Oldfield‘ was never a dream or possibility.
I took it all as an indirect compliment, but it would have been enough to make a man blush, or pound his knuckles on a boxing bag.
The rugged country hunk who hid his scar under a cowboy hat, captured the respect and affections of many fans around the globe. Music lovers felt Ernie‘s intense husky voice and the high energy songs very deeply.
The much awaited final CD of Ernie Oldfield‘s unreleased songs from WIR Records‘ archives was released on October 7, 2009.
"WANTED - ERNIE OLDFIELD" culminates the music and cover/photo designs by World International Records. This thirteen-song keepsake includes a documentary film, six unreleased songs, five remixes and two medleys.
The finale "I HAVE TO GO TO BE BACK AGAIN" cries it all out:
"I have to go to be back again
To let you know now is the end
Feel sadness, running tears ...
I promise a brand new start
You are always in my heart
So I hope you understand
I have to go to be back again.
Look at the things we had done
Joyful success on and on
Let‘s be to each other, sister and brother
To leave, not hold on what is gone ..."
Tears are wiped away.
Wisdom is following the true feelings in your heart and knowing when to let go of what.
And yet I know, that when Ernie‘s fans hear this final album, they will hold on even more to every trace of his unforgettable voice.
With love from Canada, EVY

"Timeless" is a great support
"Timeless"
On the way to my appointment with Doug Cooper, the Program Director at CKOT-FM, my driver
chose the back roads into Tillsonburg. I wondered how many indie artists are given the chance to
meet one of the top executives of a commercial radio station, in person. If an open tap in the sky
would have drenched me with rain, Friday, August 7, 2009 would still have been a serendipitous
day of elated reminiscence.
As it happened, all nature seemed to sigh in the splendor of each moment, as it ushered me back
into the memories of the town I love. As I gazed out the window, with every turn of the wheels,
one more wonderful countryside scene after another filled me with longing to live in the country
again.
My driver attempted conversation, but for some reason, I didn‘t feel the need for many words.
The silence was broken by "I forgot my watch."
Mark offered to turn around so I could retrieve it, but there would not have been enough time.
We passed the street where I used to live. For a moment it was August 8, 2006 again, and Chris
Carruthers was taking a picture of me wearing my favorite dress and holding a white rose, as I
posed in the natural magic of his mini forest.
Soon enough, I was back in "today" and inside the station - watching Doug Cooper walk toward
me in the long hallway. "Hello Doug Cooper!"
He listened to "Hold Me Tight" on World International Records "Succession - Various Artists"
Songs of ErnieOldfield CD.
"Did you write it?"
"No, it was written by Peter Jordan in Austria," I explained, while our intervals of conversation
and a few laughs continued with the music.
He cordially spared precious time from his hectic schedule to hear Laco‘s instrumental version
of "This Award Goes To You", and "Echoes Of Our Love" from Peter Jordan‘s album of German
love songs on WIR‘s "Jimmy Makulis In Memoriam" CD, as well.
As Program Director for CKOT‘s "Country 107.3" and "Country 1510 AM", Doug Cooper
also chooses the songs for their "Easy 101" FM station, that includes exceptional instrumental
music on the Easy Listening format. He is Host of "Sunday Morning Memories" on Easy 101
and fills in for other radio personalities whenever necessary.
Doug allowed me to take pictures. John Worstein (the Newsman) proved his patience and
photographic skills in Doug‘s spacious office, as he succeeded in coordinating our smiles during
an out of the blue wisecrack by yours truly at Doug‘s desk.
Then Doug walked me back to their reception area, where I was inspired to give him a quick
"thank you" hug.
Mark was patiently standing beside the car. "You were in there for forty-five minutes," he
advised.
Forty-five minutes? I look down at my left wrist and remembered that I forgot to wear my watch.
Should the kind hands of destiny ever grant me the opportunity to interview Doug Cooper about his
radio career, and his active involvement in various community organizations, my pen will
surely be flying. Just like the time.
On the way to Toronto, the words of a song I wrote a while back played in my mind.
If I‘m granted the time and the chance, I‘d love to record it.
"Passing moments, stolen from the time we‘re given
Precious moments of the time we share
Why do they pass so quickly whenever you are near me
Passing moments ..."
"Lasting memories of a time when time stood still
and passing moments left us far behind ..."
My forever gratitude to Doug Cooper and John Worstein at CKOT-FM, for welcoming my visit to
"the heartbeat of Southwestern Ontario" and showing me the true country hearts that make
Tillsonburg, Ontario a place to remember.
Timeless.
With all my love from Canada, EVY

From EVY, the POET of the YEAR in Canada
JUNE 15, 2009
My Thoughts Of Ernie Oldfield
Your earthly eyes no longer see
My soul writes anyway
Today my thoughts are still of you
Wish you‘d hear what I say
You sang words from the writer‘s heart
You made the feeling real
Deep love was in your "hold me close"
And that is how I feel
One year ago you went away
We‘re life and death apart
The music is still holding me
... holding me with
your heart

ERNIE OLDFIELD is dead!
15.06.2008
On June 15, 2008 Ernie Oldfield died in a tragic accident.
The news hit us like a bombshell!
Ernie was a foundling, (day of birth: ? 1959 - day of dead: June 15, 2008) he never knew who his real parents. Instead he gained many good and worthy friends because he himself wanted to be friends with everybody.
The deadly car accident happened during his search for his place of birth near the German-Austrian border.
We will never forget Ernie. He had the making of a superstar. Naturally we will release his last recordings in his memory. They were made shortly before his death.
Losing him is a very painful experience. His unique talent did and still does provide many happy moments for all his fans. He will always remain with us through his songs and his art.
The entire WIR Records and JOY MusicVideoProduction team

Newest informations about ERNIE´s dead
ERNIE: „At the end of the road“
In the night from 15th to 16th June 2008 our friend receives an anonymous telephone call to inform him that Ernie had just died in a traffic accident near the Austro-German border. The tragic news reached me in the studio in Slovakia early on 16th June and I instructed my office in Vienna to do everything necessary. Following my return, there were still a few unsolved issues so I decided to do a bit of research on my own. The fact that Ernie‘s car was at his home and the lack of official mention of an accident not only shed a totally new light on Ernie‘s last words “I WILL HAVE REACHED THE END OF THE ROAD BEFORE LONG”, but opens up a myriad of new questions. We will not rest before we have uncovered more details pertaining to this inexplicable situation. Peter Jordan

Commercial Radio Test Results
We have had the opportunity to review as well as radio test market your submission. The results you will find below (see bottom of email for description and definition of test). As you may already know, Loggins Promotion conducts these test at no charge to you so that you receive information that will assist and guide you in the direction you should be taking your music.
As you can see from the results below, we have received some wonderful response from radio on your music. This in turn will give you a recommended level towards a commercial radio promotion/marketing campaign.
At this time we recommend you conduct a national radio campaign which would increase your visibility to major record companies. As you know, If you are attempting to secure a recording contract, publishing or distribution for your material you must either generate sales upwards of 20 thousand units, otherwise gain a substantial amount of commercial radio station support. Loggins Promotion is hired by both major and independent labels to secure such support.

Wow! What great notice!
WARM HELLO TO YOU ERNIE from STU´S PLACE radio show, at 98.5FM CKWR, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. On Tuesday December 4, 2007, Stu Munro was unable to be on his show and asked me to fill in for him on few hours notice. NO PROBLEM! For two hours I played ALL independent artists except for 3 songs. You have many fans now in Canada, and they love to hear the songs I played from your albums: "HOLD ME TIGHT", "LET ME BE YOUR HERO" and "WITHOUT YOUR LOVE". ERNIE OLDFIELD...YOU DESERVE A TROPHY! With love from Canada, EVY

A great pleasure is Aage Nordheim comment!
NEW CD FROM ERNIE OLDFIELD " MY GUITAR AND ME"
Let there be said...."You can play me 1000 songs from 1000 different cd`s and I`ll be darned if I cant pinpoint every Ernie among them". With that distinctive characteristic it`s impossible not to. And that`s a good thing. The sound that this cd brings forward makes me wanna listen over and over again. A wonderful "crispy" clear bright sound. Very distinct. Love it. And again....here`s something for everyone. Does`nt matter if you got a "thingy" for rock`n roll or if your preference is straight country. You`got it right....it`s all here ! Aage Nordheim

At the Border
Ernie says: "As a globetrotter I am always on the move. I even know some of the borderguards and they are always very nice to me. Once, however, I was stopped and I thought: 'Do I have anything to declare?' but the guard asked Ernie: "Are you related to Mike Oldfield?" I stop and think for a while: "I really don't know. Perhaps I should look into it when I've got the time."
Then Ernie adds: "Aren't we all related, just like brothers and sister?" The guard smiled, nodded and Ernie was allowed to carry on.

Interview with Ernie
Is lonesome Ernie a pioneer?
Ernie Oldfield: From birth onwards I was subject to a very strict education and have thus always been very shy. These are not great starting points for a career which requires self-belief. Personal development is inhibited instead of encouraged. However, if there is some talent present it has a better chance to mature later on.
Ernie, a lonesome, thoughtful cowboy?
Ernie Oldfield: Yes, but not always. I‘ve listened to a lot of people, learned from them and dealt with things accordingly. For that you need friends.
What constitutes a pioneer in your eyes?
Ernie Oldfield: Not everything that is new is also good. That is why most people follow a path that others have taken already. The pioneer, however, does not mind taking a risk despite the fact that he is quite aware of it. That is the way I feel!

Ernie's Resourceful Fans
Both the studio band DIRTY NUGGETS and the fans are ecstatic about Ernie's 4 golden awards.
"We are happy for him because we always believed that Ernie deserved more than just regional popularity. Now people in three continents have confirmed this. From today onwards we will refer to him as "Ernie Goldfield".:) Congratulations. Carry on!"
|
30th April 2007: Ernie Oldfield had reached an altitude of some 10,000 metres on his flight from Hamburg to Vienna when he was symbolically awarded Internet gold for his title "Bread and Beans".
He was told upon touchdown in Vienna and stated: "It was lucky they did not tell me on the plane. I might have jumped out of the window for joy."
The official ceremony was subsequently held under less dangerous circumstances.
|
Making of "I got what I am"
We planned to throw two tracks in form of a single on the market prior to the album's release in order to gauge how it would go. This happened at the end of October 2006 across Europe. By the end of year both titles had won Internet-Gold by German DJs.
Even though we are still working on the album people were gagging for more! So we threw two more tracks on the market in early 2007. Again, both titles reached Internet-Gold. At the time of writing both single CDs have been released on three different continents: America, Australia and Europe.
It was time to release the album!
We are very pleased to tell all of those involved that it is down to the support of the media that the album has been as well received as it has.
By the way: We are already working on the next album. Prepare to be surprised!
